Previous reports have revealed that actor Michael Fassbender, star of the upcoming "Assassin's Creed" live-action film adaptation, has never played any of the games from the series before he was casted for the role.

But recently, the actor said he's been preparing for his project by playing "Assassin's Creed" games to learn more about his character.

The actor did not mention which titles from the franchise he's been playing through but that he's learning a lot from the games. For one, he's beginning to get an idea about the physical aspects of being an assassin and the importance of close quarters combat.

"A lot of stuff in the game is Parkour," Fassbender told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview," Blades attached to his wrists. It's about getting in close to the target, close quarters fighting."

In addition to playing the "Assassin's Creed" games, the actor said he's also doing various workshops and training sessions for his character.

"I've learned how to roly poly, tumble turn," he said. "Stuff you can do in everyday life. Like cartwheels. No - just basic fight choreography stuff. I did some horse stuff today. So stuff like that."

As for the premise of the upcoming movie, Fassbender said the filmmakers are trying their best to stay as close to the video game franchise as possible. This includes focusing on the various details from the series as well as ensuring the film's historical accuracy.

But, even though the film is directly based on the series, previous reports have already confirmed that it will carry a totally new plotline that will be set in Spain during the 15th century. According to IGN, the upcoming movie will provide a new story but will still be set within the same universe as the game series.

For instance, Fassbender will play Callum Lynch, a character that's never been introduced in the series before. But, he will be joined by other familiar characters from the games such as Alan Rikkin, which will be played by Jeremy Irons.

The "Assassin's Creed" movie is set to come out on December 21 next year. Recently, Entertainment Weekly also released a new image from the film showing Fassbender and his co-star French actress Ariane Labed.

In the image, the two are in full "Assassin's Creed" costumes and appear to be scoping out their target from a rooftop.

Other cast members of the film include Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams and Brendan Gleeson.
