‘Scalebound’ Updates & Release Date: Devs Delay Launch of ‘Scalebound’ for Xbox One to 2017

Scalebound

PlatinumGames has announced that the release date for the upcoming Xbox One exclusive title "Scalebound" has been delayed.

According to the studio, the decision to push back the launch of the game was made in order to give developers enough time to ensure its quality, Venture Beat reported.

The game entered its official development phase in 2013. Then, during last year's Gaescom event, publisher Microsoft gave gamers a sneak peek at the game through a demo footage. The clip showed the main protagonist controlling a dragon named Thuban during a battle sequence.

Due to the impressive nature of the demo, "Scalebound" immediately became one of the highly anticipated games for 2016. However, in a recent update from PlatinumGames, the development company noted that the game's schedule had been delayed.

The studio explained that the development of the game is currently moving forward. Although it did not mention if it encountered any technical issues while making the game, PlatinumGames said it needs extra time to work on certain aspects of the game.

Since the game is considered by the studio as the most ambitious title it has ever worked on, it seems PlatinumGames simply underestimated the timeframe it needed to complete "Scalebound."

"Development on the game is going well and we're really happy with how it's coming together," the studio said. "'Scalebound' is one of the biggest games PlatinumGames has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale - all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It's the game our team has always dreamed of making."

"In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that 'Scalebound' lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017," PlatinumGames continued. "This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experience that we have planned."

The studio, however, did not mention an exact release date for "Scalebound." But, as previously announced, the game will come out as an exclusive title for the Xbox One platform. It is not yet clear if this is a timed-exclusive deal or if the game will eventually arrive for the PlayStation 4 or other platforms such as the PC.

As for its gameplay, "Scalebound" uses a third-person perspective and is an action role-paying game. It also has a co-op multiplayer mode which means gamers can team up with one another.
