CES 2016 Updates: MacBook-Like Devices Unveiled by LG, Lenovo and HP

Apple Retina MacBook

As always, the Consumer Electronics Show serves as the main stage for the upcoming devices and gadgets that will be arriving within the next few months.

And for this year, three tech giants unveiled their new laptops that look surprisingly similar to Apple's 12-inch Retina MacBook.

One of these is the new Gram laptop from LG. At first glance, one might think that it's a 15-inch version of Apple's premium device since it also comes in the similar gold color.

Given its size, the Gram is surprisingly light at only 2.16 pounds. According to The Verge, this makes it the lightest laptop with a 15-inch screen in the world.

For its specs, the Gram runs on a sixth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 chipset and features the Windows 10 operating system. It comes with various ports for a microUSB, USB 3.0 USB Type C and HDMI as well as slots for microSD cards. According to LG, it has a battery life that can last up to seven hours on a single full charge.

It is not yet clear when the LG Gram will come out or how much it will cost.

Next up is the Yoga 900S from Lenovo. This 12-inch laptop, which comes in the same size as the Retina MacBook, weighs at about 2.2 pounds. It features a slim carbon fiber design at 0.5 inches, which according to the company, makes it the thinnest convertible laptop, Mac Rumors reported.

The two-in-one function of the device can be utilized by rotating the display panel through the 360-degree watchband hinge. It packs an Intel Core m7 processor with a battery life that can provide up to 10.5 hours of video playback.

Its QHD screen has a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and features Dolby Audio Premium. The device is expected to come out in March of this year with a retail price of $1,099.

The third device that could be mistaken as a distant brother of the Retina MacBook is HP's Elitebook Folio. Like the former, the latter also sports a tapered metallic design. It features a 12.5-inch 4K bezel-free screen with a resolution of 352 PPI.

It runs on an Intel Core M processor and packs the latest version of the Windows operating system. Like Lenovo's Yoga 900S, the EliteBook Folio also weighs 2.2 pounds.

According to Engadget, this laptop model will arrive in March and can be purchased for $999. Its larger counterpart, the 14-inch EliteBook 1040 G3, will come out this month with a retail price of $1,149.
