Gaming News: CD Projekt Red Confirms ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Enhanced Edition’ Listing was a Mistake

Development studio CD Projekt Red has clarified that it did not release an Enhanced Edition for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."

This means that the listings spotted on the sites of two European online retailers could have been posted by mistake.

The listings were first spotted by a Neogaf user who immediately posted a screenshot of one of the sites. The image, taken from French retailer E-leclerc.com featured various versions of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Enhanced Edition" for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.

Then, a few moments later, the same listing was spotted on Smarttoys.com.

But, almost immediately after the listings were posted, CD Projekt Red released a statement to address the issue. According to the company, it has not developed an Enhanced Edition for the third instalment of game series. A representative from CD Projekt Red then noted that the company is currently looking into the matter.

"There's no Enhanced Edition of 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' that we are aware of," Micahel Platkow-Gilewski, the marketing head of the studio said in a statement according to Gamespot. "This is some kind of error that we will look into."

The clarification made by CD Projekt Red may have disappointed a lot of fans of the series since an Enhanced Edition for "The Witcher" games can be considered as a big deal.

In 2008, the studio released an Enhanced Edition for the first game almost a year after its official debut. Aside from improved stability, the new version also came with 200 additional non-playable models, enhanced dialogue, improved inventory system, faster loading times and over 200 new animations.

In April of 2012, CD Projekt Red did the same thing with "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings." For the sequel, the studio bulked up the game's Enhanced Edition by adding about 10GB of new content. This includes extended gameplay by up to four hours, new arena and tutorial modes, fixes and patches and additional cinematics.

Of course, given the fact that the studio has already released Enhanced Editions for the first two titles of the series, CD Projekt Red will probably give "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" the same treatment. And, based on the release periods of the two Enhanced Editions for the games, which came out around 11 months after the launch of the main titles, gamers can probably expect to see "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Enhanced Edition" around April of this year.
