At a Glance: NCAA Tournament Predictions 2016

This year's top seeded teams score relatively low on Pythagoras ratings as compared to previous years. |

The NCAA Tournament is known for its unpredictability, going by the previous years' records. In the past, highly-ranked teams have lost to no-good ones, who make it into the limelight for a period of time.

In 2015, the NCAA had one team with an unbeaten record, two teams with two losses and six teams with three losses. But this time, each entrant has lost at least four times, which happened last only in 1994.

According to kenpom.com's data, the team that best stands a chance of win this year is Kansas, which puts its Pythagorean rating to .9504. Assessing the last several years' data would reveal that the previous ratings of the top teams have been really good compared to this year.

Kansas sports a good chance of topping the charts as it won its 12th Big 12 regular-season title, which led it to be ranked as No. 1 seeded team.

North Carolina looks like a high scorer on the eastern front, but has lagged behind in many of the games this season, and is placed No. 4 on the kenpom chart.

Oregon may give a tough competition to some of the top-seeded teams, given the team's performance in the Pac-12 regular season.

Virginia remains the topper among the Midwesterners, followed by Michigan, Utah, Iowa, and Perdue, according to ratings put together by Sports Illustrated.
