Dr. Jason Song, the principal of New Covenant Academy, was among the alumni who were honored with awards at the first Distinguished Alumni Awards Reception hosted by Azusa Pacific University's School of Education.
Azusa Pacific University's School of Education honored three alumni at its first Distinguished Alumni Awards Reception which took place on October 29.
Dr. Jason Song, the principal of New Covenant Academy; Dr. Maria Armstrong, the superintendent of Woodland Joint Unified School District; and Ted Lai, the education development executive at Apple were given Impact, Influence, and Innovation awards respectively.
"Good teaching comes from the identity and integrity of the teacher," said Dr. Anita Henck, the dean of APU's School of Education, "and such are the stories we have collected in receiving nominations for our three new alumni awards."
"These stories are of individuals whose lives were influenced by many educators, who in turn as graduates have made a difference in the lives of generations of students," Henck said.
The three individuals were selected among more than 15,000 alumni of the School of Education.
APU's School of Education is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and offers 25 credential, master's, doctoral, and certification programs in three departments including the Department of Educational Leadership, Department of School Counseling and School Psychology, and Department of Teacher Education.
